Yep, those are the walmart ones.

I use the white tub one for human consumption. The other one since it's cheaper I use for the ponies.

I think it has to do with the method they use to get the oil...I will research for you.

I bought the cheaper tub, so I could justify it to my husband as he was making snarky comments over my shoulder tonight!

They don't carry it at the walmart near me either. But if you look around online you can find some good deals. That's what I did.

OKay this is what I found about the Louana brand -

Quote:
refined, bleached, deodorized product
It appears that most people are using this for external applications. Moisturizer and what not.

There are those who will not use anything but extra virgin oil - no matter what the food. They say they like the flavor of the coconut in just about anything and everything. Others used expeller-pressed or centrifuged for dishes that don't combine well with coconut flavor. All of these oils are much more expensive than a refined, bleached, deodorized oil like LouAna. One respected authority says even the latter is acceptable - though lower in the much-valued lauric acid - and is widely used in the Philippines with no ill effect. It seems flavor and pocket book are the main considerations.

It looks like a white wax, as it's a solid at room temps.
