I only have a digital camera, so the shots arn't to good. I still love taking pics of my pony though. The next time I see him, I'll go out to his paddock and TRY to get a few good shots and if I can, get him galloping. He always gallops when I go out to him. He thinks it's fun to gallop around when I try to catch him!

Thanks a million horsephotog!! (and I am going to be reading up on the stuff later today, we postponed the photoshoot until tomorrow afternoon due to my brother coming in from Arkansas)

I can't change any lenses, we only have the one that came with the camera, but I'll find out what the mm stuff is on it (hehe... my terminology issues again... ), and work through it. Thanks a billion like I said above!!!

Oh... and I prefer having the sun to the side when I take pictures, I dunno... just a personal preference I guess. I'm hoping it'll be a bit more of a cloudy day tomorrow, last Sunday was PERFECT for stuff, but I was busy all day with other stuff... , oh well. Thanks for the tips!!

Portraits aren't my thing but here are a few things that may help. When shooting a full length shot, try to keep the camera as close to the center of the subject as possible, between the belly button and arm pits, this will hold perspective and not elongate or shorten the subject. When doing a head shot, keep the nose inside the profile. Be watchfull of the background. Try to keep it as uncluttered as possible and use a shortened depth of field. As for lenses, I like the 28-105mm on a camera with a smaller sensor. Remember the longer the focal length of the lens, the shorter the depth of field at any given f-stop. Try not to have the model face the sun, it's hard to keep their eyes open. A quartering shot will work much better. Try to keep the model as comfortable as possible and shoot in bursts, you never know how the model will react after they here the first click of the shutter!

I'm going to be having my first human photoshoot on Saturday. If they turn out good enough, these photos will most likely be going into her first modeling portfolio. Do you guys have any tips? I'm planning on doing it in the afternoon, the only time I'd be able would be around 1-4 PM, since I work from 7-12 AM and then 4-5 PM... and it gets dark around 7:30... but I might be able to do it after I get off work at 5... I dunno.

Any particular tips? She's never really modeled before... and I've never really taken "modelesque" type pictures of anyone before... ok... my little brother... but he's... my little brother. So yeah.

(oh... and to those of you I've talked to... I AM going to be reading up and studying all of the camera info, so I can let you guys know what I used and all of that)

I have always enjoyed taking pics of our horses but now it seems I am camera happy taking pics of my daughters competing in events and our 3 month old paint colt. He has lost his peach fuzz and looks so different.
