Clover isn't a good thing for horses. It's high in sugar. Biologists have found that in our local wildlife park, the wild bison and donkeys will not touch the stuff. There are huge fields of it and they stay out of it.

It's a legume, like alfalfa. It can be high in sugars, and it's certainly high in calories and protein. If it's an all/mostly clover field, I wouldn't be letting any horse graze there for more than an hour a day.
