Oh good, I was hoping it wasn't a 30. That's 1/100 of an inch I THINK Big D's carrys it, Schneider's has their "Ultra" face highlighter. If that doesn't work for you, drop me a PM. I know where you can get it at a good price

If you do it at least 2 weeks before the show it will get closer to a normal color. I clipped my guy this spring, and did a horrible job of it. It still looked pretty good 2 weeks later! When you body clip your horse turns a different color(in case you never did it)

I really don't like the concept of clipping....and I'm hoping that patching my blanket up will help out a little bit. But if it's like last year and he doesn't shed out quick enough, I'll clip about a month before. Thanks for the help!

By the way, as far as showing goes, I don't show minis, and honestly, I don't like the way they look all glamed up like that. It's very fake and makes them look like statues. I just personally don't like it.

I guess I just like the overall look of anything with QH in it, because I'm really not liking the Arab mini. -shivers- But that's just me. Everyone has their own opinion.

yeah i am hoping they will move away from the arab type
the arab minis are getting so delicate and tiny the mares are having trouble birthing and both them and the babies are dying

Awww, that's really sad. Another reason, like you said. I mean, I love mini's to death, don't get me wrong, but some peolple are breeding them for the wrong reason.

I am going to disagree here. It has not gotten this bad. Mini breeders may be trying for refined, but they are by no means stupid.

Personally, I LOVE the arab type. When I start breeding, thats what I will be breeding for. These arab types are not like breakable toys either. A lot of these horses are performance horses too. Here is my barn owner's stallion for example. This guy is a power house of a horse. He is refined, but extremely athletic. He is the sweetest, most honest stallion I have ever met.

The good thing about minis though, is they come in all different types. There is arab, QH, TB, Morgan, Appaloosa, and fresian, just to name a few. They truely are the horse for everyone. Now, some people are trying to indtroduce Hackney blood to the miniatures. That is where I draw the line.

Back to the original subject. They do make blades smaller than a 10 if you want to clip hair even longer than that. I clip my miniature with a rotation of mostly 15s and 30s, but I also use 15s and 40s. This clipping stuff is almost an art. What color horse do you have?

I also wanted to add: I reccomend Wahl clippers. They are very quiet, and clip very nicely. I have never had any luck with Oster though. And if you are willing to spend the money, Double K makes an AWESOME clipper.

I personally like what Minis look like clipped. They definitley look a whole lot better than the shaggy little beasts that my friend lets me get to be in the winter... I love the arab type they are sooo adorable, and beautiful.
