Post Chesnut Hair

Hey, I have notice that my chesnut horse has differnt areas on his body where the fur has turned a dark color, almost black. Is this sun-bleaching? Is there anything that I can do to help it go away? Thanks for the advice in advance!

Not quite sure what you mean...as sun bleaching would cause 'fading' not darkening of the hairs. Do you have any pictures you can post? Where are the dark spots located on the body? legs?

Cool

Mine does the same thing. Every year, he gets another dark spot. It is not sun-bleached, just his color.

The darker spots are on his neck and shoulders. I dont have any pics right now. barrel racer do you know what causes it? He never had it when I got him, but he was always indoors. If anyone has any ideas let me know! Thanks!

Yeah, my chestnut gets some darker spots too. Its normal I think, mine had one on his side and one on his flank. He is also pretty dappeled though, too but the dark spots are different. I'm curious though, does anybody know what these darker spots are???

Your Chestnut may have "Bend Or Spots". Take a look at this link to learn more about this unusual coat marking.

Sounds like dapples to me too, my chestnut mare gets them when she has her summer coat.
