Chemical/Mineral Imbalance??

My old girl Marina has a case of thrush that is finally winding down. Lately I have been using a 1-10 solution of bleach and water.
My question is this...she likes to lick the bleach water off the bottle I have it in. And if any spills on the cement she likes to try to lick it up off there!?
She has a mineral/salt block(the red/brown kind) and water available at all times.
Could she have a deficency? (sp) How could I find this out? Could the vet do a test or something?
She is 23 years old(aprox), gets fed a mix of alphalfa and grass hay, and gets a grain mixture of Equine Senior, 16% pelleted tiz wiz, beet pulp, and reg 10% sweet feed, soaked with water and about 1/2 cup veggie oil mixed in.

Hi Conta.

She might, but the senoir feed you are giving her has minerals and vitamins in it. I would call your Vet and discuss what he/she thinks and go from there. It is possible but what you are feeding sounds pretty good !

PLEASE don't let her even LICK the stuff. you can kill her that way!!

Horses don't HAVE to be deficient n anything to try something. Some studies say horses are NOT known to show you or eat what they are deficient in. Depends on which study you look at. They can easily OD themselves on an item just as easily. Unlike Cattle, who do know what they need for some reason. So don't rely just beacuse they are chewing on something that they are deficient.

horses are curious by nature and we THINK they need something because of it, when they just want to know. They are like 3 and 4 yr old kids their whole life. "oh what is that...OUCH that was hot......Oh what is that...OUCH that is sharp.....Oh yea, Isaw that a second ago...OUCH hot again.....LOL"

From what you are feeding, My gosh,s he is JUST fine....you can cut back on many things in my opinion, but I haven't seen your horse or know what got you to that point. But you have her covered in ALL areas!!

CONTA,

My sisters mare is nutty over bleach. We occasionally clean buckets and the water tank with bleach and clean the barn floors with bleach. She is right up at the gate getting her "whiffs" in! After the water tank is cleaned with bleach, she is all over it, hangs around, drinks, plays, just sticks around the tank. It is well rinsed, I just don't understand it. She has a bleach fettish.

What a weirdo! LOLOL

How long do you allow the bleach water to sit before using it? After 23 hours, it has not 'bleaching' capabilities, it would be just like spraying water on her hoof. It will however still have some chemicals in it that she should not be ingesting.
