Changing feed - ration balancer people help!

Okay, we have the Mare and Maintenance in now. My question is how do I switch over from Strategy? It says not to feed it w/a fortified grain. Would I just wean the horse off the strategy completely then start her on the M&M slowly? Or is it okay to go ahead and combine them to come off strategy and increase the M&M slowly. Obviously the proportions would be a little off since she's going from 2lbs of Strategy a day (that's after I cut her back from 4) to 1lb of M&M. And just in general...how quickly do you cut a horse's feed? I've always just dropped it to what I needed w/o any phasing period. I'm guessing that's not the best way. I am good about changing or increasing feeds though. I always do that slowly and gradually.

When I make this type of change, I generally back them off the feed except for a small amount and then start adding in the ration balancer until I have attained full amount and eliminated the original feed. Generally, I keep the small amount in addtion to the starter amount of the new stuff until I am ready to make the next increase of the new feed (3-5 days). I think some people would do it faster (2-3 days)...but I perfer to do it slower. However, each sitution is different.

what I did with mine was decrease the amount of grain and add that much ration balancer when I got to the amount of ration balancer they were suppose to be getting I just kept decreasing grain slowly until all they were getting was the RB mine were getting 1 1/2 lb of feed morning and night .. took me about 10 days to get them changed over
