Do you have your own cattle or are you going to use Buford? Is your horse already used to cattle, and are there trainers in your area, which you don't say where is? You could hang around and do some work and watch and learn.
There should be plenty of books, DVD's and such on the Internet. Type in search engine something like Training cutting horses.. and see what pops up. Also Western Magazines may have something, they have everything else.
Biggest problem in cutting, and (worked at cutting horse ranch) is the cattle needed, as they get wise to the game and won't cut anymore.
I will do a quick search in a minute for you and report back.

there is a trainer about an hour from here and my girlfrends grandfather has 20 head of cattle that he said i could use to learn on....they have never been cut by a horse before...i spent some time today looking for websites and such but i could not find much....i have been using the clinton anderson technique to work with her on her skills as she was a broode mare for the past two years but after a full riding season of just the basics i think she is ready to move on to what i want her to learn now.

Find a credible trainer. There are so many nuances to cutting that really can't be learned from a book or website.

Here are a couple good websites to check out; you'll find trainer and rider stats:
www.quarterhorsenew.com
www.allaboutcutting.com

"Full riding session?", you mean you rode her once after being not ridden in two years and think her steering, breaks and mind are ready for cutting?

I realize that the OP said he meant "season", but if you also read what he wrote as he wrote it, there is nothing in there that would make me think she possibly wouldn't be ready after "one session".

She is a broodie, she could easily have been a VERY well trained mare BEFORE she was made a broodie and if so, then one riding session could EASILY prove that she was ready to move on to something more in depth. I have SEVERAL broodies that I can pull out of the pasture and THAT DAY start in a new direction that they had not been previously trained for. They don't "forget" good training just because they raise a few babies and don't get ridden for a couple or more years. Unless they were poor riders to begin with.

To the OP, I cannot stress enough to find a GOOD cutting trainer and ride some of their made horses first. YOU need to get the feel for what you want your horse to become first. Then you can take that knowledge and start working your own horse knowing what you are looking for. She never has to be ridden by a cutting trainer (though it is of great benefit also) if YOU can learn on good horses and watch the trainer work the young horses.

Good job on finding a trainer.
Start slow, soak up all the knowledge you can and enjoy. You are about to experience some thrills you can find no where else.

she was well trained before she became a broode mare she is 9 years old and had been on alot of trail rides and very well trained before she was made a broodie. She has a very fast canter and i have worked with her quite a bit on it and she moves very well....the trainer i have found is very well known in the state of MN and is very respected. so i think that is who i am going to work with. i am not sure as to what i can do to prepare her myself i have never worked with a cutting horse before.
