Not having read the article yet or looked at enough offspring, maybe they mean that when Sabino does come through, it's pretty wild?

nylon gene horse coat color - Google Search

The fourth listing down The Paint Horse Journal... click on "VIEW AS HTML"
If you click on the pdf it is no longer there.
But the html comes up. Again, it is a little outdated genetics wise, but it has some good information nonetheless.

Scenic Jetalito was the sire of 253 registered foals. Bred to Quarter Horse mares two-thirds of the time, he sired 84% color
That's a pretty good percentage.

A son of his was bred to solid-colored mares 75% of the time and produced 141 registered foals, of which 77% were colored. It does say he was "predominantly white".

Another son produced 75% colored foals when bred to mostly solid-colored mares.

These guys may very well be homozygous for the SB1 gene. It's thought to produce mostly to all-white Sabinos in the homozygous form, and seems to be one the reliable forms of Sabino as far as being expressed if it's passed on.

I was wondering if they were talking about SB1. Spoonenburg (sp?) chimes in at the end of the article, but again it is from '98 and likely before a lot of the genetic tests available and the newer research.
