set into your saddle at walk. have someone tell you when the horse steps onto his inside hind. feel that. note what it does to your hips, each one individually. a forward walk is more telling. rider rises to the action (stepping onto) of the horse's inside hind leg, catches himself just before standing, and immediately sits through the next stride. be aware tho that walk is a four beat gait, trot/jog is a two beat.

'course, you can always cheat and look to the outside shoulder(comes forward with inside hind). not the preferred way but the easiest and quickest. and likely most common (we all know it's not the REAL way but still do it ). learning to feel what your horse is doing under you allows you better connections later on .
