Can she be registered?

I have (well hopefully will have) a filly who is out of an appy mare by an unregistered, but registerable black/white paint stallion. Is it possible to register my filly, or would her sire first have to be registered? I'm not sure if i could get his owner to have him registered.

well if the sire COULD be registered i am pretty sure you could get the filly registerd as long as you kno the lines from the sires side. Good luck!

I dont think so, if the stud was going to be registered with APHA no, b/c they dont accept an appy cross. Pinto possibly but I'm not sure if they accept appy either.

The PtHA (Pinto) does not accept horses that have Appaloosa breeding.

If the stud was registered APHA then you could get the foal registered with the American Half Quarter Horse Registry. Other than that, I dont know of any registery that would take your foal.

To start with, regardless of the reg.status of the sire or mare, you can't register a baby when it has the parentage of Appy or paint. If both dam,and sire were Appy, yes,so long as they were registered, same as paint, but not a half paint and half Appy,no matter if parents were registered or not. You can take a reg. Appy mare, and breed her to a Reg. Quarter horse stud, and you could reg the baby, but not with paint.

Sorry, your horse can NOT be registered. It is not desirable to cross an appy with a paint, wrong spots. So most every registry is going to discourage it. Sorry!

Is there a pintaloosa registery yet? I thought there was, but I guess pintaloosa's are nearly unheard of in horses still... Darn those ponies.

I'd say as long as there is no pintaloosa registery, you're horse cannot be registered.

As much as I dislike the cross, there actually is a registry for it and yes your filly could be registered. http://spottedhorses.tripod.com/ There is also the International colored sport horse association, don't know all of their rules but one to check into and see. http://www.shoc.org/
