Both are true stories:

MY HORSES, MY TEACHERS by: Col. Alois Podhajsky

A Girl and five Brave Horses by: Lenora Webster Carver (The movie Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken was loosely based on this book) Problem is this book has been out of print for quite a while so you should go to your local library and ask them to locate a copy for you.

Yes, Lauren, the first book is written by a man named: Alois Podhajsky.
He was Director of The Spanish Riding School and helped General Patton to rescue the Lipizzaners being held by Hitler's German Army during WWII.

You can find this book as well as several others he has written over on Amazon.com

"The First Horse I See," is a really great story about how this young girl wants a horse and her grand-dad and her go out looking for one and he tells her not to fall in love with the first horse she sees. Well, she does and then well omg I cant tell you! eek! Another really good one is "Gib Rides Home." I can't tell you the background on this one, all I remember is its kind of kewl. Sorry Has anyone ever heard of this book?

My favourite fiction books are those written by Jilly Cooper if you are an adult read her 'Riders' but have a box of tissues handyIt's sad, funny and a bit saucey.

My favourite kids book is The Little Woode Horse byUrsula Moray Williams.

ENJOY!
