Calling all theatre people!

Okay, I have lead in a play where my boyfriend gets shot. I start out the play crying and everything.. My question is.. How do you make yourself cry on stage? What do you think of? I can do it but Im just seeing if anyone has any tips to help with it. Its the first time I have cried on stage.. lol.. Ive been in theatre for like five years and never have done this. Ive done a crying monolouge once.. but I have time to get prepared. This crying is just all of a sudden.

I don't know...It's pretty natural Just pretend it really happened. It shouldn't be too hard. You can do it!!

Just really understand her situation. Don't play the charachter. BE the charachter. If you can't, then take yourself back to a time in which you were really sad. Try to start right before the play starts, and it should happen.

Sometimes just pretending to cry makes you start to really cry.

Hope that helps at least a little. Good luck!!

Because you have to do it on stage, rather than under camera close-up, you don't need to manufacture tears, you just need to practise the right sounds and actions.

If you really really want to come up with tears, rub onion on your hands first and then rub your hands on your eyes to come up with the goods.
