Calling All Pony Clubbers

Help!

I'm just joining pony club as a 16 year old and so I'm going to take all 3 D ratings the same day. I've got the mounted covered, and by the date i will know the manual. BUT i'm sooooooooo confused about turnout!

i know that my pony has to be sparkling clean. any tricks or things they especially look for?
also... i can't figure out how to make my synthetic saddle really clean. It's a wintec 2000 all-purpose. Is that possible or just a downside of having synthetic?
AND what do i wear??? informal?formal?
and about informal dress...what color coat do you wear?
i only own a black coat, which is only formal. but what color jacket is appropriate to wear besides navy and black...they're the only ones i've seen!

also...i'm going to a mounted meeting tommorrow afternoon...my first...is there anything special i should be doing for it? or just brush my pony and wear a polo?

For sure I would make sure there is NO green slobber on your horses bit or mouth, make sure your pony is neat and tidy(wiskers trimed, bridle path, fetlocks, etc..) (and hocks have no mud on them.)and that all the straps are in their keepers on your bridle. saddle pad clean no build up of grunge on your saddle(try cleaning it as best you can, I know it synthetic),if your pony is dusty get a pail of water and a towel and damp towel him all over his body it will get nice and clean, make sure to have his eyes, nose, ears and bum clean!

black or navy jackets are fine along with breeches and CLEAN paddock boots, and hair is tidy and kept back in your helmut, I would also wear gloves.

good luck!

Hullo!
May I ask which Club you are joining?

If I were you, I would try to get in touch with my DC and see what she says, if you can not do that, one of the members of your club will tell you what is expected turn out for you and your mount..

Good Luck,at any age USPC is a fine club for friendship and good sport!

Please let us know how it goes.
Paula

I'm joining Radnor Hunt Pony Club.
It's in eastern pennsylvania.
I was debating about asking the DC... but i've had to ask her a lot of questions, being a new member....and i wanted to see if i could get an answer from someone else. lol.
aren't the requirements the same nationwide?

The Testing requirements are, but how formal or un-formal your turn out should be, could be different for your club. Some may just let you do your D ratings in a polo and breeches and half chaps, paddocks, and an approved helmet .

Your DC is there to answer ANY questions you may have, she is your go to person for the answers as well, a member may not know what she requires, she will, and since she is in charge, and will be the one seeing over your testing, I would ask her.

Good Luck, Radnor has a wonderful Hunt, that is very interactive with the PC, excellent club, you are going to learn tons, and have fun in the process.

When is your testing?

I just checked the USPC Guidelines..

All Levels

ASTM/SEI Approved Helmet
Hard soled shoes which cover the ankel or boots
Halter, Lead rope, bucket.
Grooming Kit

C-1 and above.
Correct formal or informal attire.

That is according to USPC GUIDELINES FOR CLUB RATINGS: D-1 THROUGH C-2 2002

Good Luck,
Paula

For pony club meetings, you need to where a polo and britches. For the rating informal or formal your choice as long as you are neat and tidy. And if you go formal your stack tie must not be the pre tied kind.

Big stupid thing to remember, if you britches have belt loops you must where a belt.

Any other questions and you can PM me I am a D3 going for my C1 in November, and I know most of ther rules and stuff, I am a horse knowledge geek. This year my first year in pc I qualified and attended championships.
