calling all bitless bridle people :)

Which do you prefer??? The Bitless Bridle (Dr. Cooks) or the Nurtural Bitless Bridle?
I am leaning towards the Nurtural... but just wanted to see if anyone had comments...

websites- www.nurturalhorse.com
- www.bitlessbridle.com

Also, maybe this is a silly question, but since they sit lower and snugger on the nose, can they still open their mouths all the way... someone had told me they can't, but I am not convinced about that!

Any feedback will be helpful!

I have a Nurtural Bridle and she can open her mouth all the way. It does not sit as low as the caveson. The only thing that I don't like is the patent cross under the chin. I think the Dr. Cook bridle has some sort of loop or ring but I really like it.

Why don't you like it??

From what I read, the reason why it has that cross under the chin is for better control. Supposedly Dr. Cook's (reigns) move around a lot more, causing them to be uneven... that is why Nurtural created that X thingy!
The nurtural website has a comparison of theirs compared to his.

Does the nose strap cause any irritation on your horse? (I thought I read it had some grippy stuff on it) Although I read Dr. Cook's slides around a lot on the nose causing pressure points to change.

It is the slightest differences, but do they make a big difference?? I am just crazy... I need to suck it up and make a decision already

The patent circle is hard to get adjusted to have the reins even. It took a few times to get it right, but now they are good. There is some soft rubber, I think, under the noseband but it does not irritate her at all so far. It does cause sweat but then they sweat under a bridle also. I though about putting a thin sheepskin cover over it, but have not done it yet. I think the Dr. Cook design is a little better under the chin but the nurtural is just as good. I got it because it was a little cheaper and if I didn't like it it was not such a loss. I do like it though and at some point may purchase the Dr. Cook. It took me 5 months to make the choice to buy one.

Click on the pic to make it bigger to see the bridle.

Well I really can't compare as I have only dealt with Dr. cooks bridle and I have had no problem with it, it is easy to use, works well and if it is fitted well, it doesn't slide around much. the reins CAN get uneven as it is essentially one continuous loop but I just adjust them as the beginning of the ride and they are fine after that. I like his bridle but I'm not familiar with the other one.

Hi
Did you decide? I am in the same position in trying to decide whether to a) get one and b) get nurtural or dr cooks. So did you buy, did you get it and do you like it?

Thanks

Yes, I love it. We had our first trail ride last Saturday and it went great. I was trying to get her on it for about a month before we went out, more me than her I guess. She did great! We have this pretty vertical hill that when she sees it she get really excited and wants to immediately canter up it along with a good size bucky/cowhop and I alwasy have to turn her back and start over, sometimes more than once. This time I whoed at the bottom, loosend the rein a little, gave a little leg and up we went and a nice pace and not once did she try to move out faster. She got to the top and stopped on her own. I think with the bit I am always worried about hurting her mouth, I am still a newby, but I never felt comfortable with it. With this I do. I am acutally going to buy the Dr. Cook version in a few months. I have had this horse one year, and she now has 3 bridles, a couple of saddle pads, two bell boots, 3 different blankets, ect. But I love it and would rather be broke and happy then have extra spending money and not.

I've never used the Nurtural Bitless so I can't comment on that, but I like the Dr. Cook's and have had good results with every horse I've used one on. They can open their mouths just fine! The reins haven't been a problem.

As with many others, I can really only comment on the Dr Cooks one and I LOVE IT! I don't ride all the time with it but I do love it. Has worked really well on all the horses I've tried it on, which is a bunch!
