buying a new horse what do you think?

Ok so the farm that I work on breeds Gypsy Vanners and English Shires.Well I have decided to buy one of the babies well he's ten months old? Anyhow I have to get him gelded, so my first question is how old should he be before having him gelded? Second is should he be put into basic training or should I do it myself? He has kicked several people and was supposed to be a "bad hat" but I have never had an isue with him in fact we get along s well that he nickers for me and when he is in his stall lying down if anyone came to his door he jumps up but he allows me to come in and lean down and scratch all over him and he doesn't get up.I haven't actually bought him as of yet butfeel like I should since I seem to be the only person that he truly trust? what would you all suggest? oh I will add pics tomorrow.

IMO at ten months gelding should help does he have both of his jewels down yet ? and basic training starts NOW especially if he is a ****.. lots of stuff you can do on your own at that age. leading PROPERLY, ho, stand, tying will teach him patience. pick up his feet, touch his ears ect ect.. I love horses at that age, their so fun ..

look forward to pics..GV are so nice to look at.

Are you getting a Shire or a Vanner?

If he's dropped both of his valuables already you can get him gelded as soon as you want. It's best to wait for cooler weather like in the late fall... in the summer there are too many flies and bugs that will bother the incision.

It sounds like he just needs some basic training and learn respect of humans... Good luck on him and can't wait for the pics!

He's gorgeous!!! I love Vanners, they're so beautiful! I know the English members think we're all stupid for paying so much for something they have that's "a dime a dozen" over there... but if I had the money I'd get one.
