I have seen those ads on ebay before. found the first one when I was looking for breyers and forgot to put the word 'breyer' in the seach so I got a few real stallions listed.

Thats my thoughts too.,... I mean anyone could buy it and breed any mare. You would think stallion owners would only want the best mares bred to their studs to get the best foals which will reflect upon the studs abilities in the breeding shed. I know if I had a stud I wouldn't want a lot of mediocre babies going around with him listed as their sire.

I dont agree with it, but we do have a really lovely Holsteiner stallion in our barn (Lancaster) whose owner sells about 50++ breedings per year on Ebay, so it does get done and he seems to do well enough out of it to make it worth his while!

Lanc is an older stallion , he was injured so doesnt compete anymore, his owner wants to keep him active and keep his name out there but doesnt want to throw a lot of money out advertising him, and the Ebay breedings pay for his upkeep each and every year, and THEN some, so as much as I personally would not do it, it is a legit way to keep the cash flow coming in and having him pay for himself every single year

In his case, people are getting a booking to a terrific stallion that produces very very nice foals, with impeccable bloodlines, so it is really a win/win situation for all concerned the way I see it!
