Bump on back

I have a new saddle. I think it is a problem for my horse. He has been acting weird lately. I have had him since the end of august. about a month and 1/2 ago he would charge at me in the pasture when getting out to ride. I thought he was just changeling me because we had some changes in the herd. Then he started getting more cinchy than usual. Then he fought the bit so much when bending to the right. I thought for awhile he was just being a butt because I haven't ridden him much this winter. About a 2 weeks ago I noticed a egg sized swollen area on his back right where the back of the saddle rests. I pushed on it and it does bother him. It is sort of soft not all the way hard. I have been putting some stuff on him that the vet gave us for swelling when another horse got kicked in the shoulder. It has gone down but it is still there. I haven't ridden him since I found it. Do you all think maybe it could be something more serious besides a saddle sore? The skin isn't broken and there is no heat around it. I think I will take him to the vet by the end of the week if it isn't all the way gone. Just wondering if anyone else has had a lump like this related to saddles because I really think that is what it is.

If it was my horse I would bring him to the vet! any time that it involves a horses back or legs you need to have a vet look at them ASAP or it could cause some major problems down the road!
