Buddy, My rescued mini

Hi everyone,
This is about Buddy. He was an abandoned mini in Florida, and found by animal control after about a year of being on his own. He poor little hooves where elve shaped. Well since they are a no kill control they looked for a home. Well my friend called me about it and she took him as they told her to put him down because they couldn't. Well she brought him to me and he has been diagnosed with Cushings and Severe Founder of course, but my vet and farrier have been working overtime on him and look at him now. This is after just 3 weeks. And they wanted to put him down can you believe it. It just shows the will he has to live, Now when I got Buddy he could not even stand up, let alone buck and kick. And he will forever now have the love and attention he deserves.

I thought he farted on the camera before running away (until I realized that was the sound of your drill). He's a handsome fellow. Congrats!

Cushings signs are almost all gone with being on peroglide medication also on Thyroid medication. Our biggest concern now is the founder. Which his feet are coming along quite nicely. He does have rotated coffin bones, but my farrier is an expert with this and has done wonders so far. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that he comes around. Will never be 100%, but I just want him to be happy and live like a horse should.

I will admit that yes that was a big **** as he started to run. But I was just so excited to see him move like that. After just lying flat for 3 weeks.

There is a very interesting article on Cushings disease and Chasteberry at www.equine-rescue.com . Go to the middle of the page and the link is in bright yellow.
