Ok I went and got a bag of Gro N Win for my morgan mare today adn we were discussing feeds and got to talking abotu Safe Choice and he showed me this feed .....

http://www.buckeyenutrition.com/equine/documents/344SafeNEasyPeltag.pdf

sorry if you can't read PDF files it won't let me copy and paste it

but Buckeye is goign to start putting the NSC (starch plus sugar) content on all theri feeds in the near future and are challenging other companies to do the same according to the dealer I talked to today

I'm not so hot on it. Never have seen it before now.

It's grain based and required to be fed at fairly high levels. What is the nsc on it?

So they're saying that the feed in the link you gave has an nsc of 16.5? Just making sure I understand.

There are some buckeye feeds that I've seen that I like, but this one just doesn't jump out at me as anything good.

Safe choice recommends 5lbs for a light exercised horse per day
safe and easy as alittle at 4.5 lbs

so levels are no higher then any other feed

Fat % is higher in safe choice compared to Buckeye....

(I would have gone with buckeye on my horse...but couldn't find any)

CP is higher as well.

While "feeding" recommendations are similar, it doesn't mean they are getting the exacts at around the same amount.
