Red face Bucked off

This morning I was giving my usual riding lesson and there ws another little girl taking hers as well. The other instructor likes to play games with the kids. I think it really helps them learn control and concentration and balance. We usually do egg and spoon and ride and run. Ride and run helps them with their dismounts in case of emergency and egg and spoon helps with balance and control. Well, we decided to show the kids how to do it and the other instructor went first. Now, you have to understand that we had little pony saddles on the horses at the time LOL....i use Fancy for my lesson because i trust her so much with the kids. Well, Nancy went first and her horse bucked a bit but no biggie. I went and Fancy bucked up and i was (-) this close to going over her head LOL...i saved it and went off the shoulder and landed on my feet instead, got back on and finished up the ride and run. I scraped my knee, but otherwise am ok LOL....I guess a fast lope and a pony saddle and a horse who has not run in a bit are not a good combo....BUT i did demonstrate how to fall and not get destroyed LOL

Seriously wondering.... do you think the combination of small/ kid saddle and larger/ adult rider had something to do w/ prompting a buck?

naaaa...she always does a bit of bucking whenever she is asked to run. It was just not as easy for me to save it as it is when i have my saddle on LOL But, you just never know, do you? Now i know for the future NOT to do ride and run in a pony saddle

And as for Fancy being a WP horse, she loves to run barrels, we just have not done it in a very looooooooong time. She is getting time off now for about a month anyway...just light work and no actual training.

But, yes, i do believe Fancy's future as a barrel horse is non-existant....she is destined to be a WP horse forever LMAO
