Brusally Orzaborr 1981-2008

I just got a call from my friend- we lost my filly's sire today.

I can't even describe the heartbreak. He was one of my best buddies. I just saw him about a month ago and he came trotting up and hugged me to him with his neck the way he always did. Sassed his six year old son over the fence and schmoozed with his best friend of many, many years, Star.

He turned 27 on Friday.

I'm going out tomorrow to give Allure the biggest hug she's ever had, and take pictures for her granddad. Both of us will miss him terribly.

This is one of my favorite pictures of him- taken as he stormed up the length of his run to meet me.

We'll miss yah, Ivan the terrible.

Aw I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you and his owner and all who knew him. He certainly sounds like he was a wonderful boy. (((hugs)))

Oh god, he was horrible. He was such a bluffer that my mom wouldn't even go into his run when she met him... he was ALL talk and NO action...

He split my lip in the barn one day and looked like he wanted to cry... cuddled me and whickered just like a mare does with her foal when it bled all over the place.

What a beautiful stallion. I'm glad he lived a long and happy life with people who loved him greatly and I hope his end was quiet and peaceful.

It sounds like he left a beautiful legacy behind as well and will be remembered a long time.

Oh no Jen!!! I am so sorry.. he was such a wonderful horse. Well now Allure will carry on his legacy, I am sure of it. RIP and Godspeed Brusally Orzaborr.

I was just over there... Star is so confused. They have been friends for so long. He's 25 now.

Thunder, his '02 colt (his... last colt... Allure is his last filly, they're the last two babies) has had the run beside his since he came off the track with a blown tendon (he's back to 100% now) and it stopped my heart- he looks just like him. I told Marsha she has another four years with that particular beast and then I'm coming to get him. She said OKAY GOOD. He is all attitude.

She tells me that the vet told them that the heart murmur he had was pronounced, and he would probably not have lived through colic surgery had they decided to put a 27 year old horse through that in the first place. I wish I had been there.
