| Senior Member+ | Bridle woes! So, as most of you know, I just got my new western bridle and it didn't fit (the browband was too small). I've been thinking about it a lot lately... Drafty suggested to me that I take it into a leather or tack shop of some sort and see if they can lengthen it for me. Has anyone else had this done to their tack? How long did it take? How much did it cost? Did it turn out nicely? Would you suggest that I do that? Aaaand, lastly, HOW should it be lengthened? And here is the bridle on my pony, just in case you want to see it: ![]() If anyone has any other suggestions, they would be appreciated. I thought about buying a different browband that was the correct size, but it's kind of a rare color so I'm having trouble finding one that will match the rest of the bridle. And it's hard to find JUST a browband, they are usually selling the whole headstall, and I really would rather not buy a whole different headstall and just use the browband from it if it's going to cost me another $50. So I then thought, maybe I could find a headstall that's a two-ear and just take off one of the earpieces and put it on my bridle, and sell the bridle as a one-ear... don't know if that would work, and again, I'm having a hard time finding an inexpensive one that matches (or one that matches at all, expensive or not). If you got through all that congrats

| Senior Member+ | I'm wondering if I could just make something that looks like one of those browbands... dunno how that would work. What do you guys think?

| Senior Member+ | Wow, 1-3 days is really good... I guess I'll be getting that if I can't borrow something from someone at my barn (I'll check on that tomorrow when I ride). I wish it was cheaper... it's not too bad though.

| Senior Member | Well, if it works out the way you want and you can resell one as a one ear, then you could possibly make some money on it. =] But I know allll about trying to get stuff as cheap as you can. Lol. My parents didn't buy anything (other than paying for lessons for the first year or two) except for at holidays/birthdays when all I asked for was horse stuff. |
