There's a reason all horses aren't popular lke QHs though..that's what makes these horses so rare and exciting. I've always wanted an Akhal-Teke..I think they're they coolest looking horses (esp when shiney)..and they're very talented eventers as well. But if everyone had them..they wouldn't be cool anymore.
Candiens are also a Canadian breed...which means they don't really live anywhere else. The Canadien is a pretty new breed too..so it hasn't go out in the open yet.
Very intesting though..I didn't know some of those were on those lists!

I am really shocked about the Dartmoor, Exmoor and Fell ponies - all our most popular Native Breeds

My friend wanted a Fell Filly a few years back - we had to travel 150 miles to find the nearest breeder to us.

In the ring over here, I have only seen 1 Fell Pony, 1 Dartmoor, and 4 Exmoor, all which Pic has competed against in Mountain and Moorland, most are Welsh - so I suppose that speaks for itself.

This little mare next to Pic is Dartmoor - Affiliated Show Pony, owned by a close friend of mine, I know you can just see her head, but apart from Breed shows, she's the only purebred I have seen at local shows in 9 years

Thanks sandra, I had no idea myself about the draft breeds being on this list. They seem to be making a nice comeback though, at least in my area. I thought I was getting a Fla Cracker colt a few months back, but the deal fell through. I know that they are really popular up in the North Fla area, where we are moving to. There is a 1/2 Ahkel Teke at our local show down here, beautiful horse Kicks it in the open jumping!!

I was just thinking about the Suffolk - would that be the Suffolk Punch? The heavy horse used to pull drays etc, if so they are a beautiful breed, but with all the other methods of transport around - I am not surprised

Yeh It is

Interesting info on above

The Marwari: The Marwari horse, as the most potent symbol of the warrior Kings somehow survived wholesale slaughter, castration and fearful ignorance during the troubled times preceding Independence and for several decades later. It is thanks to the surviving Rajput families and horse lovers from all communities that the resilient and beautiful Marwari has emerged from the shadows onto a bright and hopeful future and out of the threat of extinction.
They are still very rare.
