| Senior Member+ | Howdy! Well, we're finally getting a Mini mare. Probably going to buy one already in foal, and that way kinda 'pay her off' when the foal is born. Anyways, I was wondering how big a Mini's foaling stall should be? Also just wondering - how big should a mini's stall be period? If we have a 10 x 10 stall, do you think we could put two mares in it (if they get along?)? We've never had Minis before, so I'm very excited about this!

| Senior Member+ | I would say NOT to put 2 in one stall together. EXPECIALLY pregnate. Mare and baby in a 10x10 stall but not 2 with 2 babies. Just my opinion. They going to be turned out at all? How long? If it is a run in and out, a 10x10 shed for both would be fine.

| Senior Member+ | A friend of mine breeds mini's and she has the mares seperated toward the later months of pregnancy in their own paddock with a lean to for shelter. The don't stay in a stall at all. I would have to agree with QHgirl that one mare will be fine in a 10x10 stall for foaling out, I wouldn't put two mares together either in one stall, too many things can go wrong there. Think of the mini's as horses, just small ones. I have seen many mini owners treat them like they are dogs, and things will go wrong when you start doing that, they are equines, just a smaller version

| Senior Member+ | Definitly avoid putting two horses of any size in a stall together. There is pecking orders with horses and if you accidently put a dominant with a lower down horse, that lower down one can get seriously hurt with no where to go and get away. If you put 2 dominant ones, then you can still have issues. 10x10 for a mini is big enough. As soon as they are up and walkin, you can move momma and baby out into the pasture so you can move another momma in if that is what you are worried about.
