With regards to breeding on the foal heat, research also shows that if the mare OVULATES at least 10 days post foaling, the conception rate is comparable to any other breeding cycle. However, if the mare is bred and ovualtes before that 10 day mark, there is a considerably higher incidence of early embryonic death. Hope that helps! Okay so I have one mare on regumate which Wed will be the last dose. My question is the vet wanted to insert antibotics in her before we breed her. He said it would help the folicule stick better or something to that effect and I posted about it and someone gave me a link that it's not good to insert the meds so I'm confused on that too? Should I not or call a different vet or just try breeding her without the meds. He said too that if there was any infection it would wash it out as well. Now tomorrow my other mare starts her foal heat 9 days from birth and from what I'm reading its really not healthy on her so I want to cut her cycle short so tell me exactly what I need to do. Are we going to Regumate her for 10 days and then breed her? So when would I start her regumate? I don't want a much later breeding date were running on a mid yr foal. Any suggestions would be helpful. My friend uses a shot that brings the mare in in 4 days does anyone know what shot that might be? |

So I could breed her after the 10th day and if she takes it should be safe or should I be safe and just short cycle her. We are doing live cover. Is she more fert. on foal heat or short cycle? Thanks |
