Breast collar fit question

This is the used breast collar I got in the Ebay auction. I'm concerned that although it fits chest wise it doesn't fit leg wise. It seems to hang down his front legs to far for my comfort. Is that normal? I think I can put a couple more holes in it but after that I can't do anything else.

Here's pics I took of it yesterday. Hope they help.

Your instincts are right it does hang much too low. There should only be about a hands width between the strap and your horses chest.

It also looks like the neck part may be too tight. It's hard to tell from pictures though. Just make sure that there is also a hands width distance between the neck strap and your horses neck.

The strap does hang too low, also I think the chest part that goes across might be a little tight, I can't really tell.

Adding some holes might be enough to take up that slack. If not, you can take it to a leather repair shop and have them remove leather from the ends. I had to do that with one of my breast collars.

IGNORE the LIPS!! And NO ONE say a darn thing, he does this ALL the time!! This horse has gone almost 3000 miles of 50 mile rides or more in a day, here is a good shot of his breast collar.

NOT saying a word....*wringing my hands* Not gonna say anything....*slapping hands*........really trying not to........*sitting on hands*......

ROFLMBO Sorry I couldn't help it but that's almost exactly what Curly does.... goes around flapping his lips as he's moving along....... I keep telling him to shut up but he's just gotta flap them lips... Some horses just can't stop talking. LMBO

Thank you very much. LOL If I can't get it tight enough then I'll add it to the list of things to sell. I have another question. It doesn't have a clip for the cinch loop could it be one that goes over the cinch? If so wouldn't that hurt having that lump in there?

Thank you

Mine goes over the cinch, BUT my cinch doesn't have a ring to "clip" to. You can just add a clip then cut off any extreme left over you have.

We had just trotted up a 4 mile 1600 foot climb and he was STILL babbling away! Sheesh. He babbles and babbles and babbles, I can see them lips a FLOPPING in his shadows! LOL Sigh...

My cinch has a clip but the collar doesn't. I was wondering why since it seems to be really hard to get that part apart to put a clip on it. Wouldn't it create like a pressure point if I put the cinch through the opening? Maybe I'll give that a try instead of leaving the clip I twined to it there. I'll see if I can get a pic of it when I go to feed and if it dries up I'll get some riding in.

Maybe he was telling you all about the plants along the way to keep you entertained. LMBO

Either that or maybe he was being like the little train that could and telling himself "I know I can I know I can I know I can" LOL It really is to funny

Or as mum says... maybe he was complaining about the climb like saying "my feet are hot I'm tired couldn't we just stop and grab a bite to eat"

Then the colar is made for the cinch to go through the loop in it on the the end. That is why there is no clip there. I bet if you run the cinch through that loop in it ... it will fit much tighter. Many english ones just have the loop and no clips.

Ok thank you

Curly is a very sensative boy so I may end up having to sell this one and get him a clip on one. How much would be a good price for this?
