Also it usually gives out at the point you knotted it as that is a big structural weakness point
I think it would give with a sudden snap back. But I would be more concerned with a gradual pull easing the tension onto it. It takes more pressure to break it that way than a hard yank.

That is a good thing with Scout, he ties good, so if something were to make him pull back.. it would most likely be a jerk back and usually with him if he pull back and nothing gives he stops unlike Fritz who will sit.. struggle, sit struggle.. BE FREE!

WEll since I have used it and had it fail (thank fully) many times on cross ties, stall ties, etc, I can assure you that it 'pops' with a moderate hard yank back, and I've never yet had a horse go over backwards from it

NOW I have had a horse end up on their butt after ripping a metal eye bolt out straight from fighting her buckle halter, TWICE that's when I learned to use a rope halter ONLY on her for tying up AND tie THAT into the twine

Wyld, do you do the 2 strands? Chester suggested this, and that is what I started doing, one small loop and one larger loop in case they break the small one if the panic is gone they are still tied.

Well Ive only ever seen the plastic type over here. It scares me a little as it does take quite a bit to break. Ive had horses fight against it for a minute before it breaks. Thats alot of time for a struggling panicky horse to get hurt on something.

So I split the twine in half and tie to only half of it. Does the trick
