Breaking Down..Poor Baby!

Hey everyone, sorry this is going to proabbly be long. It's about this 8 yr old mare named Whitney at our barn.. (TB)..never raced

Well anwyays, this mare seems like she is "breaking down". She's been going DEAD lame, in her one back leg and keeps dragging it. We've had 4 different vets look at it, shes had an Ultra Sound and 2 Stifle Ejections. We dont know what else to do.

The Girl allyson bought her about 5 yrs ago, the mare was doing 4ft eventing and could go higher but she didnt want to push her. After like 1 1/2 yrs of eventing the mare broke a bone in her front leg (forget which bone), She had surgey and it compltey healed and allyson gave her around 7 months stall rest and then started SLOWLY working her, Walking her for a month, then Trotting/walking for a month and so on. And has been fine the past couple of years until the past 2-3 months.

Whitney has been fine up until the past 2-3 months. We've tried giving her 1 bute twice a day like the vet(s) have said, doesnt help. She also gets Cosequin which hasnt worked either. If you need to know shes only being worked 20-25 mins a day, 35 mins max. We only do walk/trot/canter and jump her crossrails and small things once a week.

We're not sure whats wrong, do you guys have any clue what it could be? The owners were thinking of donating her to a retirement farm because they dont want to work her.. poor thing is only 8 yrs old!

VET ASAP Tell them to Test for EPM. Because if you let it go too far, the horse won't be able to recover, and unfortunate decision will have to be made!!!
