Squeaker usually works up a sweat, but she has never gotten lathered lol. I think sweating shows that they got a good workout.

My horse sweated in winter a bit on his chest, but i shaved him and he only gets a little hot once in a while. I find he sweats more often when we're fooling around (just cantering around after for HIS play time). I think if your horse sweats it's fine, but just not ALL OVER and having laboured breathing, etc.

sweating means they got a good workout, but like others said, so long as their breathing isn't labored and they're foaming or something. me and my horses sweat every time i ride, but i am overweight and out of shape, and so are my horses, so it really doesn't take a lot, lol!

my horse loves to canter so even though i don't train him in anything specific he usually gets pretty sweaty. we spend most of the time just cantering around aimlessly and at different speeds in my field. he loves it! right now since he had an easy winter he's really out of shape so he gets sweaty every time i ride him. i work him really hard, but i know him really well and i can tell when he's too tired so i just make sure to cool him down for a good long while. when i just go for a trail ride or something he still gets sweaty under his saddle, but thats because his saddle pad is a beast.

Page and Tucker take forever to work up a sweat, even in the summer. Roy on the other hand sweats on hot days, every time I ride, and whenever he's nervous. I just make sure he gets plenty of water and electrolytes and thank heaven he doesn't have b.o.!
