Breakaway stirrups worth the trouble?

Does anyone here know if Western breakaway stirrups actually work?

Yeah, I've seen these advertisements on RFDTV and would like to know as well if anyone uses them.

I used the endurance style with cages. They're funky looking, but the deer on the trail don't seem to care

Is there something where I can attach the cage to my current stirrups?

There are these things called toe stoppers. They install inside western stirrups, with straps on the outside. I have heard good things about them!
