Brands of feed

I'm wondering what brands of feed everyone feeds their horse(s)?

I feed Tiz Whiz 12% to horses 3 yrs and over and Tiz Whiz 16% to horses 2yrs and under.

I feed Dynamite. Pricey, but actually cheaper in the long run b/c you don't have to feed as much.

Cav gets a senior pellet called Gumnuts (aus company Mitavite) and a rice bran type pellet (equi-jewel made by KER) as well as oaten chaff

Astro gets oaten chaff, lupins, barley, sun seeds, canola oil, bran as well as various sups.

Both boys and all other horses get hay twice a day.

Triple Crown Lite ($12.72/50lb bag- tax included)

Made for easy keepers. All of the nutrients are at higher concentrations, so you get as much in 1-2lb of TCL that you would get in 5-6lb of other feeds.

It's also a lower fat, higher fiber feed. It contains flax seed, brewer's yeast, and probiotics.

Within 2 weeks, the change in my arab was astonishing! He'd never looked better and was actually SHINY!!! A big accomplishment for a grey. This is on 1lb/day and pasture 24/7.

Swayze gets a pelleted complete feed called Demand by Blue Seal as well as clean oats twice a day. Bugsy gets the same pelleted feed as well as clean oats and cracked corn twice a day. The Demand is around $9.50 after tax per 50# bag.

Red face

Hi! I'm a new member and a junior rider ! I'm gald I found this forum, it's great so far and I'm learning a lot (I want to study equine nutrition when I go to college).

Anyways, in answer to this thread. I live in Arizona and I use Arizona Star products. It's very popular at the training barn where I board at since it's formulated to keep southwestern horses in good shape with our crazy climate (it's 120 degrees in Phoenix >.<). The only think that concerns me about it is that the Senior feed might have a little too much molassas for my taste...I'm not a big fan of sugars (except for grape sugar, which horses can digest well...but who knows where you can get that lol). My horse'll eat anything, so I hope I can find a good quality Senior feed without all that added molasses...at least I think it has a lot...it's very sticky.

My boy's also on the Natural Glo Rice Bran, but I might switch him to Moor Glow...I just don't know if it's too high in protein for an older horse. He then gets plain alfalfa pellets provided from the facility, but I don't know what brand they are from. However, I have had nice results from the Thoroughbred (sp. for the brand name?) pellets. Along with this, he's on a bunch of supplements and other natural things to help him out.

I was on the Manna products, but I was told that it wasn't as good quality as some others. I haven't used Nutrena, but I like what I've heard about it and seen.

What I'd really like to do is get a specialist in equine nutrition and have Mack's feed specially made and selected for him. Anyone in Arizona know where I can do this?
