Fiona has a brand, but it doesnt look like it is. it just looks like all this messed up hair and its ugly! u have to really look at it to find its a brand mark. the hair just goes every which way. i've tried brushing it for ever and soaking it(in the summer) and i dont know how to make it 'decent' looking. was the brand just not done right? or is there anything i can do to make it look correct, would i have to clip her? running_ Tiny running_

Do you have a picture of it? In the winter do you have her inside? Have you tried clipping that area? If not try in the winter if Fi is inside and/or if you blanket her. What is the brand of? Have you tried tracing it? Do you show her ( I can't remember )? Keep us updated and let us know.

its supose to look like this: http://www.isroldenburg.org/Olna2.gif but its all messed up w/ the fur. ppl ask what it is and i have to trace it and expolain wut it looks like so they can get a pic in their head about it. she is kept in(she gets out 4+ hours every day tho) and she is balnketed. she doesnt have as much a fur coat as other blanketed horses. i have thought of clipping her so she doesnt get so sweaty in the winter. i am starting to show her(her first one is this saturday. January the 3rd) wut do u mean by tracing it? running_ Tiny running_

Maybe QHgirl means tracing it to see what it stands for/ or her bloodlines?? Sounds to me like the brand wasn't done right, it is supposed to leave either white hair or no hair when done properly.

Yea tracing it to find out what farm did it. Just so you know where the horse came from. So that is what it is supposed to look like? Do you have any pics of her with the brand? That will help to see if anyone can help tell you how to make it look better or if clipping will help!

You can always have it re-done. Sometimes the brand doesn't take very well. Since the brand kills the hair follicles, the new follicles that grow back usually are white hairs. And not always do they grow back in the right direction. You can always clip the neck so it doesn't look so raggidy. I can't remember what the clip is called, Hunter clip?

brands can be unclear if the foal moves while it´s branded; usually they stand still long enough but sometimes it happens that they move too early before the brand is completely done. my old mare has two brands; the one on the leg is absolutely clear but the one on her neck can only be seen in the summertime I´m surprised that you own an Oldenburger horse; they are very popular in Europe, esp. for jumping and dressage |

the brand isnt from a farm. it tells you that the horse was inspected and excepted in the Oldenburg registry. it is on her left flank. Simone--she's only half Oldenburg. but i'm surprised i have her too. running_ Tiny running_

Tiny -- I just took a look at your gallery and found out that the famous Furioso II is Fionas Grandsire eek! With his blood in her veins I´m sure that Fiona will be an excellent jumper. What´s the other half? Thoroughbred? Where did you buy her? |
