Should you braid your horses mane when it's the middle of fly season?

I don't. It's a natural way to get rid of flies. Some people do though...it's all about personal decision.

I'm confused....are you talking about braiding to increase growth or braiding for showing? Sorry for being blonde

We braid the night before a show. and bag with the stringy bag things......

But leave it down. I braid a lot in the winter to help my horse develop a tail, it WORKS!!! LOL

I would braid for shows but otherwise leave it down..if your talking about braiding to encourage growth, then use relly strong fly spray.
