| Senior Member+ | Braiding: night before, morning of?
Had a conversation with a friend about this, earlier, and it got me curious. If I were paying a pro to braid for me, I would insist on it being done the morning of my show. In my opinion, a pro braider should be able to knock out my properly pulled and thinned mane within 30-45 minutes. However, my friend doesn't mind paying a pro to have her horse done at 5:30 PM the night before her show. So, what do you guys think?

If you are hiring a pro, chances are they will want to do it the night before and not the morning of so they don't have to get up early! However, YOU are paying them for it and I would say they should do it whenever is convenient for YOU, not when is convenient for them. Personally I would rather have a pro do it the morning of for me (if I hired someone to braid for me, I never have) so that the braids don't get ruined overnight. That said, I do braid for myself, and I find it much easier to braid the night before and then just fix up the few braids that fell out overnight the next morning before my class. I'm already nervous the morning of the show about going into my classes and getting MYSELF ready for the show, I would rather not have to worry about braiding my horse on top of that! |

I actaully braid morning of on warm days when going to local shows. On cold days I band the night before. (he can wear his sleazy on cold nights and keep them neat) Big shows I try and do it the night before |

If I'm paying or being paid, it's done the morning of, no ifs, ands, or buts. If I'm just banding, I have no issues with it being done the night prior with a sleazy over. But braids are done on show day not before.

I can knock out a reasonable mane myself if it is nicely pulled and kept within 30 minutes - I would expect a pro to be much faster - or considerably neater. I wouldnt pay for someone to braid the night before, too much chance of it being rubbed out. |

Always morning of for me - whether someone else does it or I do it, it's always the morning of. |

I do it the night before then put their skinny hood on. They are always good in the morning. But mine are sewn and sewn well.

I didnt vote. I do both lol I braid my own horse all the time. I braid him the night before after he is done his bath and then finish it in the morning. then I didnt make my fingers hurt the night before just for him to rub it all out and make it even more of a job for me. if he rubs one little braid its a lot easier
