I do it the night before because I`m new to braiding and I generally spend the next morning redoing some of my braids.

I always braid the morning of because my horses have a tendency to rub or lay down and get bedding in them and I despise sleazys. I also like the "polished" look right after the braids are finished..you tend you have less flyaways.

I think that I voted that I braid the day of, but I do both depending on the horse. Zephyr I can braid really quickly in about 20 minutes so I do him the day of, plus since he sleeps lying down they get dirty and filled with shavings and I've had trouble with his mane in the past, as in it is really thin and can be pulled out. Now I'm paranoid about it so I always do it the morning of. Most other horses, especially if it is a really early morning the next day, I will braid the night before

'Back in the day' when I was doing a lot of showing with 2 horses and had a fair distance to drive, I always braided the night before. Have never had a pro braider do them - don't think I ever will either.

It depends to me upon when your class is. If it's early in the morning I braid the night before, put on a sleazy, and hope they don't come out *they usually don't*. If it's not a super early ride time, I like to braid morning of. It seems like it keeps them cleaner and there's less of a chance of the horse pulling them out.

I pay a pro, and she usually does it sometime between 9 pm and 6 am--she has LOTS of horses to braid and does them all overnight. My current horses don't rub their braids, and they stay in from Friday night until Sunday afternoon for recognized shows.

The pro banders down here charge $50 and as they are so busy, they do them the night before...sometimes going thru to 1 am...some of also show themselves, so no chance of catching them for the morning of.

I usually do ours the night before too, and with a slinky on, they usually stay in place...I am always to stressed to think about banding the morning of classes...so much other stuff to do!
