How do you use rubber bands to braid the mane?

you grab the size section of hair you want to braid.
braid it and rubber band the bottom. do this to the whole mane.

then when all the single mane braids are done - you fold them under (i normally folded them under twice because i like the braids tight to the neck) makign sure it is neat. and then rubber banded that bundle as close to the start of the mane as possible

Thanks! I'll try it - it's much more simple and I don't have time to learn the other way before the show!

I braid sages mane in thicker braids than most because it suits him better. And braiding tails are hard. it just takes practice . I find rubber band work well.

have fun

Personally I find sewing the braids in place to come out looking MUCH nicer. Not only do they stay in 100% better but you can also manipulate the braid more in the sewing up process in order to make it look nicer. So that's fine if you don't have time to learn it for this show but it really isn't that complicated and it is totally worth knowing how.

I definitely want to learn to do it the fancy way sometime...but hopefully I can find someone who knows how to do it and they can show me.
