This is the most interesting one I've seen. I found it doing an Image search on Google.

That is interesting. I have never seen that one before. Just wondering if they said what that braid is used for. Could you imagine how long it takes to do that

That is called a waffle braid. It is seen on Andalusians and is often done on gaming horses (in US, barrel racing, poles, etc.) to keep the mane out of the way of the reins. It does take a while to do, but it looks really HOT

It is also used in the arabian circuit for dressage and hunter (as an alternative to the normal french braid).

Thumbs up

hi~
that is called a continental braid. I do it on my QH gelding as he has a long mane. It can work for western and english so I don't have to hurry up and switch his hair style at open shows. There are pics of it at this link: http://palominosrock.tripod.com/taba...bsite/id2.html

It takes about an hour but it is well worth it.

hey, i've seen that braid done as well but it was called a spider web:
I actually did it on a friend once, lol, it looked awesome it was like, the half up half down look but better
the only other different waysi know about is a running braid (one fat braid running the length of the neck) and a scalloped mane which is where you plait it like you would normal braids but instead of rolling them up you connect them to the one not directly next to it but one more along so it looks like loops. i'll see if i can post a pic soon.

Awww I can't see the picture of the scallop picture.. I do what is called a scallop on my mare, curious to see if it is the same thing.. is it where you do the mane up in braids and then tuck each one under the other and fasten at the mane? (Sorry, not the best at describing things).
