braiding

does anyone have any ideas/techniques/styles for braiding or banding. i have looked about everywhere and cant find any unique types of braiding a horses tail or mane.

if i were you i would do a search on the forum for braiding posts!

there have been many an even with diagrams to help

yea, i have searched around but i cant find anything for long manes-maybe somthing for like barrels-just contesting

There is a french braid and a continental braid. I've made a thread about the continental braid awhile back.

ive seen that and that like ..the dimeond braid. but i can't seem to find anything for contesting. only for fun, fair, and very little shows. i was just wanting to do something different than others.

I'm not sure if this is something that you would actually be interested in doing, but I kne someone who used to game her horse and she would band her horse's mane and then put in some tinsel (it was usually the clear irridescent stuff, not the silver) and it looked really neat - especially in motion I'm not sure how well it would work out with a long mane... maybe if you french braided it and sew some tinsel in or something. I thought it was coold because it's not something that you see everyday and you remember it

Haha i do alot of the dressage braids with yarn but i think my favorite thing to do is what they do with arabians the diamonds. I love those. You need a long mane for them. But they do look nice.
