Post braiding

I got my first show comming up this sun, with my new boy blue. Should i braid sat or early sun morning? I don't have to be at the show until 12ish. but i take forever!!!
OH,is there any way to get him to stop shaking his head when i'm braiding? the yawn tickles his neck and all he does is shake! it's drives me nuts. My b/f holds his ear, but he stills shakes. Anyone know what i can do to get him to stop it??
ohhh and he only shakes right when i'm about to tie the knot right at the end of the braid, then the braid falls out. ( i think he's got it all planned out LOL)

Hello, if you look in the May issue of the Horse & rider mag you will see the Make Over magic artical that was in the mag. it is very informational about braids an such.

my horse is in love with food so i let him eat hay off the ground (he doesn't have to pull out the hay from a feeder) to keep him from shakeing. i would maybe do half one night and half the next morining. it gives you a break and him one too plus you can see how long it is taking you. good luck at your show

what i usually do is i platt / braid them the night before, and then th morning of the show i roll them up. this usually works quite well!
oh and as for the shaking thing, my horse does the same when i am taking them out! when your rolloing them up, try not to let any of the thread or his hair touch his neck, as this is what probably triggers off the shaking. i found this tip to be quite useful! and the food thing! hah

hope you have fun at the show and i hope you do well!!!! keep us updated cute_kis

i use a haynet. if he eats it off the ground, his head will be up/down/up/down as he takes his bites and chews.
