There's a product out there called QuikBraid - it helps to make the hair less slippery when you braid, which might help. Important things to remember when tying up your braids: When you put the pull-through into the braid, make sure that you put it into the *center* of the braid, and do it as close to the base of the neck as possible. THat way, when you go to tie the braid, you can push it right into the crest. Make sure that the main is short to begin with - 4" is just about perfect. Any longer, and your loops will be long, and you won't get a tight little result. When you're ready to do the knot on top, just *push* up on the top part of the loop, to make a "bump" and then secure it. This way you're also pushing the base of the finished braid right up into the crest also. Do you have any pics of your wayward braids? Maybe that would help us find hints for you. Hope this helps! |

no i dont have any pics but im sure my problem was that his mae was to long i got the part about pulling the braid up threw the crest the tie it off there then you like loop down to the other end and pull tight i guess once i get move my poor horse i buy is ganna become a great ginnie pig hehe.... I use the quick braid stuff and it works great but my fingers still hurt after all that braiding i was kinda wodnering if i put wax or something on my fingers if that would help. i dont have a problem if it was just my horse but when i have 6 others to braid its pretty pain full by the end of the night... if i have tiem before i move to go to the stables and braid a few of the horses manes and take a pic i will.

Hmmm... not sure about the wax - but maybe if you can find some latex surgical gloves - that might help. I try not to braid more than 5 horses a day, because of that very thing you're describing. If I get a raw spot on my fingers, (which happens often if I am doing several horses) I usually wrap each finger with VetRap. It's grippy and stretchy, so it works pretty well. Good luck! |
