![]() | OK promise not to laugh at my computer-drawing skills, but I made a picture to help you. It shows what the first part of the knot should look like, and the letters indicate which color strand would come up through that hole. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...s/turkhelp.jpg Really, the key for me was taping the braid shut. Then i didn't have to keep my hand in there like they show (I do step 1 and 2 like them, but take it out by 3), and I was able to spread the strands out and and really watch what I was doing. Use 4 colors to practice so there's no confusion as to which strand is which. For some cord I just buy on eBay....lots of sellers sell 100 ft lengths of a wide variety of colors. Some have larger spools. Then I ordered 1000 foot spools from an army and navy store (can't remember which one though) because their shipping was best for me, and they had all the colors (some army surplus stores have great prices but only black, white, and OD) |

| Senior Member | lol I'll try that tonight, along with looking on ebay. Thanks! My goat string looks pretty good. I don't actually do goat roping, but I now have a goat string...

| Senior Member | One goat string and two dog leashes later...I'm out of cord! Just placed an order for some more. All rainbow colors this time. Woohoo! Now, has anyone mastered the back-braid? Where you weave the ends into the braid to finish it?

| Senior Member | Half a dozen dog leashes later... I still can't back-braid. I don't understand the instructions. Anyone on here braid reins, and if so, how do you do it? What technique do you use?
