I went to the barn today and got some horse hair and now I'm trying to think of things to make with it. I have a friend whose horse is pushing 30 and I want to make her something nice for when...you know...

So my ideas are...
keychain
....
....
....
*shrug*

Maybe a tassel thing? Anyone know how to do that? Any ideas?

I bought myself two pounds of scrap latigo leather today. Is this going to be strong enough for use with horses or should I save it for other projects? Thanks.

Clever me looked up the company and it says right there on the product discription that latigo leather can be used for bridles, reins, etc. Whew.

I also found this awesome lady who makes braided horsehair jewelry. I think I could make the 8-strand bracelet, if I could only master the PINEAPPLE!

Has everyone lost interest in this except for me?

There are instructions in the book for paracord cross ties. I'm already at the point where I could make a goatstring, but I can't figure out the terminal turk's knot...

Those are some cool looking braids. How is this one made? It is done in a single piece and the braid is continuous right? I have used one before and couldn't find where 2 pieces were put together.

ShyMare - For the terminal turk's knot, tape the braid closed just under where the knot will be. Then you can spread out the strands and do your work without any worries of the whole braid unravelling! I find it easier to keep the strands spread out well to form the knot, then tighten after. Oh, and when learning it helps to use 4 different colors. Finally, don't be too hard on yourself...it's tricky.

So yeah, been doing it for years, though I just got back into it more heavily again (the better Canadian dollar made paracord way more affordable than it used to be, since I have a hard time finding it here). I'm having lots of fun experimenting...I like figuring out new patterns and stuff, and I love doing custom work best.

Here are a few pictures of stuff I've made lately

Love your work, Pally! Where do you get your materials?

I'm having trouble setting up the knot...I don't know which cord goes where...

Yes, I believe that is one piece of leather, split where the braid is. I know you can do a braid like that, without loose ends, don't know where the link went though...
