braid+kyle=rar

Kyle's owner a few weeks ago braided his mane and it helps alot to keep him cooler in this hot weather... So today I didn't ride him[saddle problems] and wanted to redo his braids cuz they were all crazy, but Kyle really hates having his hair done. He'll walk backwards, forwards, sideways, try and eat my arm... So his braids are really badly done. How do you guys get your horses to stay still while braiding?

Yes, crossties. If a second person can hold his head, and a third his bum on the oppisitte side, that can work too.

Make him stand still, everytime he moves, back him up, and ask him to walk forward again, make it more work to move, then to just stand.

Your welcome, my horses fidget a lot, and this has always helped, but then, they find the really anoying pawing, and stomping and of COURSE the weight shifting over and over. Lol
