Unhappy Boys Will Be Boys*Graphic Pics #12*

Boys will be boys, babies will be babies...

I just got back from a week at my boyfriend's beach house....And I get bad news...

Mars(Waldemar, the Hona colt I just got) has managed to cut his lip...which required stitches...twice...

Apparently it still looks gross. I haven't seen it yet since I got home when it was dark. And it sounds like he will under-go reconstructive surgery the when he gets his fuzzy plums taken away...

He was on an IV penecillin but since he is still not the greatest to handle it wasn't working out. So he's getting SMZs mixed with beat pulp. Lucky boy.

Hopefully he is now done getting hurt...or hurt like this...

Rio:
- 7 months old, cuts his leg the day after Thanksgiving (holiday for the vet) and requires stitches, which last about 4 days.
- 10 months old - mild colic that to him might as well have been killing him
- 2 years, pokes hole in cheek on a Saturday, requiring an emergency vet call and stitches which last about 4 days.
- 5 years, severs extensor tendon

Welcome to the world of boys!

The first vet my mom had out is still considered "new". He started about a year ago at our clinic. He's done 3 other lip stitchings...And he was very hesitant to stitch Mars, because he said all the others had fallen out/off(the skin died). But that's pretty much a sure thing no matter what.

There weren't any other vets close by, they were all out on the road...But there was one vet who did large animals around...But it was his surgery day(so he's not suppose to go on the road on surgery days), and it was his lunch hour...And he is such a nice guy! He came out and stitched Mars up. How lucky is that?

LOL Yes, your baby haha

I swear he grew in the week I haven't seen him.

And I'm so glad my mom didn't tell me what had happened. It happened on Wednesday I think and I had been gone since Saturday morning. I would have been worried sick had I known!

But hey, he now has a halter on! LOL And he pretty easy to catch...As long as he's the one doing the "investigating", then you just hold onto the halter and rub his neck and he's good. LOL

My vet didn't even think he was 1 1/2 months...she thought he was OLDER!! haha He's gonna be a big one!

Well I tried to go on vacation once. I was less than 30 minutes from home when this happened to Touch:

I hope Mars is doing better soon. Cassie who just had stitches out of her eye had a similar problem the skin on the surface sloffed off but the rest stayed. You can't even tell her eyelid was missing now!

Man does it look gross!! It looks like there's a bunch of pus...but I think the pus is just thick which makes it look worse. It has separated again it looks like. I'm going to be calling the vets again and telling them what I see and they'll decide if they need to come back out, or we might be able to trailer in this time since I'm here.

And his poor neck! He has a huge knot in it from one of the shots he was given(he was given a tetanus(sp?) and I think something else) so we're keeping an eye on that too.

And I think I might have found where he cut his lip...But there isn't a lot of blood at the site so I'm not too sure...I've got some investigating to do! LOL

I'll be getting pics later too.
