Boss

Many people on here feed their horses BOSS. Where can you get it? A bird place? How and how much do you feed, the whole seeds? Any before/after result pictures? Thanks

I get mine from the big pet store, it's a 50 pound bag for about 10$. You can check wal mart, your feed store or any other place that has bird feed.

If you are feeding it to enhance a coat rather than for it's nutritional value...I believe a cup morning and night (two cups a day) would be sufficient.

I have a couple of photos of my mare after having had it, but the befores are of her winter coat so that doesn't count really as they always look scruffier in the winter.

I feed it just for the coat but I also feed canola oil. He gets about a cup (maybe a bit more or less since its just a large handful) each night. He also gets a cup of oil a night. I buy it from work (petvalu) in the bird section. Just go through it and make sure there nothing in it that shouldnt be. I pay about $7.00 a 50lbs bag but thats with my discount. its regular $11.99 i think

They sell it here at the DMB with all the other feed (including bird food). It's $15.99 here.

I feed 2cups a day to my two horses (Trouble & Dandy). Right now I am just buying what I need, this winter though I'll be purchasing the 50LB bags. Gotta start storing for winter. Not sure if the price will go up on everything so I want to be prepared IF it does.

Will feeding this make a horse gain weight?

2lb is the max, and at 2500 cal/lb, that's a good chunk. So yes, if you feed 2lb you're likely going to see weight gain. You can get coat benefits from just a couple of cups (anywhere from 3-4 cups/lb) while keeping the calories down a bit.
