| Senior Member | Bosal: What is a bosal? And what is it used for? Hackamore: What is it's main purpose? Do they have 'show hackamores'? I like to ride Sin bareback sometimes. And I use nothing but a halter and lead rope. It seems he listens better to that than his bridle with a bit. So I was thinking about investing in either a bosal or a hackamore.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | With a hackamore, you will have a rein on each side like using a bit. The hackamore will fit on a regular headstall. Bosal is kind of tear drop shaped and both reins connect in one location in the middle. Either should work with a horse ridden with a halter but the hackamore might be better if you attach the reins on each side. You can take a look at my sight for pictures if you wish......sometimes people don't like me telling people this but if one is wanting to know what something looks like and I have a picture, I think it helps. |
