bluing shampoo making the stain worse! Help..

So we have a show today and last night we bathed. The problem is he had a bad stain on his left hip, and it seemed worse last night after bathing...
I started with Wisk, which usually makes him whitier and brighter than anything else...then orvus, then a bluing shampoo...any suggestions? I will be leaving for the show soon!! I heard about rubbing alcohol...how much would I use and do I just pour it on a rag and scrub?

Okay, STOP. Your going to give your horse a rash! Thats WAAAY too many chemicals. Try Ivory dish soap. Its VERY gentle and it works great.
If not, you're gonna just have to deal...you can't treat him like a dirty pair of jeans or you'll trade that stain for a HUGE skin issue...which won't look nice either.

Sorry...I know they don't always pick the best time to stain themselves

Good luck!

How did you make out? I had a friend with a white pony and she used to buy a product called Dri-Cleen (not sure of spelling) but it is made by absorbine. It worked well for her.

You can also try making a paste of white vinegar and bran. Mix thenm and smear it on the stain. Let it dry and then take it off.

You can also clip the area or I use a botknife (be REALLY careful though)

Yep like the stuff you put in bran mashes. The bran doesn't do anything but make the vinegar stay in one place longer. So it can sit there for a while instead of just for a few seconds

I use plain mane and tail shampoo. With a white horse and huge poo stains, it works really well. I also have used clairol renewal 5x, and it worked too. Mane and tail and letting it set for five minutes will work though.

Edited to add before and after photos

Jim Stoner Photography before, look at the stain on his rear end

Drew same day, just later on

I see the difference!! I'm wondering if the bluing shampoo actually made it worse?? I have mane and tail but didn't even think about using it on the stain!! Thanks! And yes my horse is white too!
