Post Blue's first show, well sorta

Ok today we went to a show with my mare BLue today. We didn't enter in anything because they didn't have any classes suitable for us. So we just hung out and i rode her around a bit. She was so good! I was so proud of her. I was able to do w/t/c in the ring they had that no one was using. Then we went out and stood around among the hubub. She stood quietly and just watched. I was able to get a chance to walk her around in the indoor arena the show was in. It wasn't a very good arena though, it was very small and dark and they had jumps everywhere when we went in. So she was a bit nervous when we went in and she pranced and skittered around a bit. Bu then another girl came in and started jumping her horse, and BLue calmed down abit. So when she could walk around without spooking, we went out. Then we went home. She was so good in trailer. I felt so bad because we got lost trying to find the dumb place, so she endured about 45 mins of drving around on back roads and stopping when we were tryng to get there. All in all it was a good day though. Maybe next weekend if we can find a show somewhere, we'll actually enter. Just though i'de share the good news.

That's great, I did the same with my gelding when I took my son to his gymkhanas. It was good for himto get out. Now when we do show he is a good boy.

That's wonderful!! We do this with all our horses. We haul them to 1 or 2 shows and let them hang out all day. It's a wonderful way to get them accustomed to the hub-bub before adding the stress of actually showing.

Thanks guys, i appreciate it. Some people said "why don't you want to put her in a class?" i told them that i thought that would be rushing things. I like to take baby steps to get places, i don't like dumping any un-necessary stress on either of us. I'm glad i'm not being a "wimp" as some would say. Thanks!
