I never quite understood rollkur. Like I know people will do stupid things and harmful things to make their horses look pretty and beautiful .. but this doesn't even LOOK appealing .. ? I don't get it.. Also is his horse still wearing stall bandages?? Anyway I only watched a few seconds of it to see the 'tongue' the rest is quite disturbing to me. But I do not think rollkur was a direct effect to the blue tongue. Some horses do stick their tongues out like that regardless of pressue on their mouths. It almost appeared at the beginning like someone tied the tongue out, like they do with racehorses .. but then you can see the rider try and stuff the tongue back in the mouth ...

Just looks to me like he's got his tongue over the bit is all. However, that constant overflexing doesn't give the impression of a soft horse at first glance. Or second or third or fourth. Gives the impression of a horse that is chargy and evading as much as it possibly can. I realize I don't ride Dressage, but I do know horses and for the life of me cannot see ANY benefit to this exercise for longer than a second or two. But what do I know?

^ I agree w/ doublebarr.......however, it looks like it may be more then just a tongue over the bit...it's there more movement in the tongue when that happens?

First ten seconds of the video... he makes it look like his horse is very gracefully running away with him.

No win is worth enough to do that to a horse (IMO). And the sad part... in the background, other riders have their horses totally cranked in, also.

Silly part is... they take forever and a day to actually train these horses- the high levels are usually 10 yrs+. Maybe if they stopped putting the horse's heavy on the forehand to begin with, they wouldn't take so darn long to train them out of it with all their cranking and spurring.

That's disgusting to watch. The horse's headset right after he tried to shove the tongue back in and completely relaxed the reins (the head went up, but the nose was still tucked) was far closer to being proper than the nasty headset he has ruined his horse with. If i were that horse, I'd be ticked and buck him off. Maybe stomp him a few times. Terrible excuse for dressage. The horse is extremely tolerant.
